Your HVAC System Is One of the Biggest Investments in Your Home. Here Is How to Protect It.

Think about the last time you skipped an oil change on your truck.

You probably did not skip it, because you know what happens when you do. The engine runs hotter than it should. Parts that should last for years start wearing down early. A $60 oil change turns into a $4,000 engine repair because something that was easy to prevent got ignored long enough to become a real problem.

Your HVAC system works the same way. It is a mechanical system with components that wear, filters that clog, and drain lines that build up over time. The difference is that most people change their oil every few months and service their HVAC system never. Then they are surprised when a $12,000 system fails at year eight instead of lasting fifteen.

Maintenance is not a sales pitch. It is basic protection for a major investment.

What Skipping Maintenance Actually Costs You

A system that goes without regular service runs less efficiently as the season goes on. Coils get dirty. Drain lines collect algae. Capacitors weaken. Refrigerant levels drift. None of these are dramatic failures. They are slow, invisible degradations that add up to higher energy bills, more frequent repairs, and a shorter system lifespan.

The biggest cost is not the repair bill when something breaks. It is the repair that could have been caught on a maintenance visit and was not. A weak capacitor found during a routine check is a small parts cost. That same capacitor failing on a July afternoon when every HVAC company in Montgomery County is booked out is an emergency call, a wait, and full repair pricing with no discount.

The math on maintenance is not complicated. Regular service costs less than the problems it prevents.

The TexVet Comfort Shield Plans: What Each One Covers

Tex Vet Air offers three service plan tiers under the TexVet Comfort Shield program. The right tier depends on how much protection you want and how much value you want to get out of your parts and equipment discounts.

Duty Membership, $120 per year

One annual maintenance visit that includes a full system inspection, filter check and recommendations, and drain line inspection. Members receive 10% off repair parts and standard scheduling priority.

This tier fits homeowners who want a basic level of scheduled care and a parts discount to protect against routine repair costs. For newer systems with a clean maintenance history, it is a solid starting point.

Honor Membership, $160 per year

Two maintenance visits per year, one in spring before cooling season and one in fall before heating season. Each visit includes a full system inspection, drain line flush, electrical component testing, and thermostat calibration. Members receive 15% off repair parts and 5% off new equipment, with priority scheduling.

This is the most popular tier because it covers both ends of the Texas weather calendar. The spring visit catches anything that needs attention before your system runs hard all summer. The fall visit clears out what summer left behind and confirms the heating side is ready before the first cold front. The combination of two visits and a 15% parts discount is where the plan starts paying for itself in any year that includes a repair.

Legacy Membership, $200 per year

Two precision maintenance visits per year with full system performance tune-up, drain line treatment and protection, electrical system optimization, and airflow and efficiency adjustments. Members receive 25% off repair parts and upgrades, 10% off new equipment, front-of-line priority service, and no overtime fees, ever.

Legacy is built for homeowners who want the maximum coverage and the best financial protection when something goes wrong. Think of it the way you think about car insurance. You hope you never need to file a claim. But if something happens and you are covered, you are protected. If you are not covered, you pay full price for everything, and you wait in line behind everyone who is.

What the Member Discounts Actually Save You

This is where the plans move from a maintenance program to a financial tool. The discounts are real, they stack against actual repair and equipment costs, and the math is worth looking at before you decide which tier fits.

At the Duty level, 10% off repair parts on a $400 repair saves you $40. On a $1,000 repair it saves $100. The $120 annual plan cost offsets against those savings the first time a repair comes up.

At the Honor level, 15% off repair parts on that same $1,000 repair saves $150, nearly covering the $160 plan cost in a single call. Members also receive 5% off any equipment purchase, which matters when a UV air purifier, a smart thermostat, or any system upgrade comes into the conversation.

At the Legacy level, the math gets more direct. A 25% discount on a $1,500 parts or upgrade purchase saves $375. The plan costs $200. That is $175 in your pocket after the plan pays for itself, in a single transaction. Members also receive 10% off equipment purchases and no overtime fees on any service call, meaning weekend and evening calls do not carry a premium rate.

For a homeowner with a system that is a few years into its life and likely to need parts attention in the coming seasons, the Legacy plan does not feel like an expense. It feels like the decision that made everything after it cost less.

The Honest Reason Most Homeowners Do Not Have a Plan

It is not that they do not want one. It is that nobody explained it to them in terms that made the value obvious.

A system that costs $10,000 to $15,000 to replace deserves the same attention you give a vehicle that cost half that. You would not drive 50,000 miles without service and expect the engine to hold up. The logic is identical.

Tex Vet Air service plans are available to any homeowner in Montgomery County. When we come out for a maintenance visit or a repair call, we walk through the plan tiers and do the math on-site so you can see exactly what the plan is worth before you decide anything.
